Don’t Open Your Eyes

For Piano and Percussion | Duration: 5’30

Don’t Open Your Eyes is meant to be an experience for the audience. In addition to what is going on at the piano, there is a lot going on in other areas of the room. To get the best of the experience the audience should close their eyes so that visually the only thing they remember seeing is the piano in the center of the room. Because the piece plays with space and time, the audience should not expect what will happen next. For performers, this means that the piece will not be performed exactly the same each time.

Where Are My Keys

For 4 Percussionists | Duration: 2’00

This piece which was originally performed by members of the George Mason New Sound Collective, is about the everyday struggle of misplacing important items such as keys and wallets and the dance we do to find them. Playing on the sounds of body percussion this piece fuses the concert setting with the African American tradition of step.
