Learn with me!

As a teacher, I aim to provide students with a foundation that will allow them to take their musicianship in any direction they hope to go. I’ve taught in-person and online voice and piano lessons in Northern Virginia and the Greater Boston area. In lessons, I work to not only incorporate the student’s personal goals but also to expose them to new skills and music. I hope to provide each student with not only the skills to play or sing but also a world of possibilities that they can explore.

In their lessons, students will learn not only how to play piano or sing, but also core music skills such as music theory, listening to music, and practice techniques. Using my student’s interests as a guide, I build a personalized curriculum that combines their current skillset, future goals, and areas of possible exploration. This curriculum is then revisited every ten lessons as students progress and I learn more about their unique learning styles.

In my four years of teaching beginner and intermediate students ages five and up, I’ve found great joy in watching students pass their own milestones and learn valuable life skills through their music. I’ve watched students who were initially frustrated at the idea of practicing, learn perseverance. I’ve watched students who only knew one style of music approach new music and new ideas with an open mind. And most importantly, I’ve watched students become independent players and thinkers, building confidence in themselves and trusting their own voices. They grow as people, as well as musicians - the best gift for which any teacher can ask.
